Downy Mildew of Grape
Downy mildew, caused by the obligate
parasite Plasmopara viticola, is
potentially one of the most destructive
diseases of grape in the world. The
disease is especially serious in climates
with abundant rainfall, high relative
humidity, and prolonged periods of
wetness on leaves and fruits. The
fungus infects all parts of the grape
vine. It causes losses by killing leaf
tissues and defoliation. Also, it rots
the ripening grapes and weakens,
dwarfs, and kills the young shoots. First
symptoms are yellow circular spots
with an oily appearance on the upper
leaf surface. On the underside of the
leaf surface the fungus appears as a
delicate, dense, white, cottony growth
in the lesions. The young berries are
highly susceptible. They appear grayish
and become covered with a downy felt
WEATHERLINK ADD-ON SOFTWARE MODULES
Integrated Pest Management Module
The new Integrated Pest Management Module (IPM) provides the final step in linking your
weather data to actual pest risk, giving you a powerful new tool in the battle against crop pest
damage. This add-on module works with WeatherLink for Windows and Vantage Pro2 to gather
real-time temperature, humidity, rain and leaf wetness data and generate stepped risk levels
to warn you when conditions are favorable for pest development. The software comes loaded
with pest models for all known pests, including diseases, insects and mites. (You may delete
pests not present in your area.) You will see at a glance when conditions are favorable for insect
pests reaching a damaging stage of growth, or for disease development to occur. A color-coded
spreadsheet puts the highest risk potential pests at the top of the list and highlights them in red.
Because you configure the software to reflect pests present in your area and use real-time data
from your own vineyard and orchard weather sensors, the software’s updated pest development
algorithms will provide you with the most accurate, crop-specific risk assessment available.
Agricultural/Turf Management Software Module
Optional software module adds specialized reports for farmers, growers, and
turf managers, with user-defined growing season and 24-hour period. You’ll
get evapotranspiration, chilling requirement, leaf wetness hours, and soil
temperature hours. Plus growing degree-days and temperature-
humidity hours and crop water management (with irrigation
values and user-entered K-factor profiles).
For use with all WeatherLink models except Mac versions. Some
reports require the use of optional sensors. Evapotranspiration
reports require the use of solar radiation sensor.
NEW
MODULE!
E-Mail/Phone Alert Software Module
Be alerted whenever conditions approach critical—24 hours a day, 7 days
a week. Choose e-mail for detailed information on alarm conditions plus
regularly scheduled updates on current weather conditions. Use the alert
to send a text to your cell phone. Or choose the phone alert,
with a special alarm tone telling you to check your weather
station console or WeatherLink for details.
For use with all WeatherLink models except Mac versions.
Because systems vary, the phone alert may not work outside
the USA.
Note: Add-on software
used with WeatherLink. All
models work with Vantage
Pro2. For other stations,
refer to chart on page 23.
REQUIRES:
Vantage Pro2 or
Vantage Pro2 Plus
and WeatherLink
for Windows (any
model), version 5.6
or later. Windows
XP SP3 and above.
Compatible with
Weather Envoy and
Envoy8X.
All disease models
also require a Leaf
Wetness Sensor
with a Wireless Leaf
& Soil Moisture/
Temperature Station.
