/Vssffeppp
The
/V
command is used to set the parameters which control the printing speed, the paper
feed speed (speed on an unprinted area), and the energy directed to the printhead (printing
intensity).
It must be followed by 4 parameters which have the following significance:
ss
print speed in centimetres per second, 2 digits (values: from 02 to max);
e
optimisation of printhead energy level (values from 2 to 6): represents the number
of active pulses per cycle and is used to regulate the intensity of the black in the printing.
ppp
printhead power, 3 digits (values: from 0 to 999).
The print speed is normally set in the range from 50 to 100 mm/s to obtain the best print
quality with standard quality labels and ribbons. Print speeds in excess of 150 mm/sec.
can result in a deterioration of the print quality unless specific materials are used – paper
and ribbons – designed for high-speed printing.
The power level should always be at the minimum value to obtain an acceptable print
quality at the selected speed and with the support materials being used. A lower value will
result in a greyish print with many faded areas whereas a value which is too high can
damage the ribbon and the migration of the pigments on the ribbon can clog the printhead
and also give a messy print. If a correct print cannot be found, it could be that the selected
speed is too high for the quality of the printing materials being used. There are many
qualities of paper and ribbons on the market and your supplier should advise you on the
types and quality to use.

/Wnnnn
The
/W
command is used to print the number of labels specified with the 4 digit parame-
ter
nnnn
, from 0001 to 9999. If the value 0000 is used, the printer will go into an infinite
print loop.
During printing, the printer does not normally process other data but can receive it and
store it in the buffer until this is full (max 64 Kbytes). New data is processed when the
print session is finished and when the printer goes onto ONLINE status.
If the printer has sufficient memory to store 2 complete bitmaps which cover the size of
the desired label, the
/ *B
command can be used to abilitate the processing of the data for
the next label while the previous label is still being printed. This function is particularly
useful when variable data is being printed and this data changes from one label to the next.
This will reduce / eliminate the idle time thereby increasing the throughput of the printer.
A printing session can be suspended by pressing the
Pause
key and can then be restarted
by pressing the same key. If a print session is to be aborted, the
Pause and
Feed
keys
should be pressed at the same time.
