The Compact4 Mark II printers have proven to be very successful in Europe and Datamax-O’Neil is committed to
repeating that success worldwide. Below are just a few applications where the Compact4 Mark II printers have
performed reliably for years.
Distribution/Warehousing - Printing from the Forklift
Companies that move a large volume of products and palletize their shipments
have realized a substantial increase in efficiency by printing from Compact4
Mobile printers mounted directly on their forklifts. Reduced errors, quicker
processing, and lower overhead are benefits of on-vehicle label printing.
In many warehouses, the staging area for palletizing is often a centralized location
where packages are consolidated, prepared for shipment, and shipping labels are
applied. Sounds simple, but moving the complete pallet to a centralized labeling
location can increase the chance for human error, primarily because you have to
select and apply the correct label to the correct pallet. By moving away from the
centralized concept of palletizing and printing, and moving to a mobile solution
(a forklift equipped with a networked computer, label printer, and scanner),
Compact4 Mobile users have realized significant time and fuel savings.
The schematic below illustrates a typical application setup with the Compact4
Mobile printer mounted on the forklift, a ruggedized computer networked via a
wireless card, and a hand held scanner. All the hardware components including
the printer are powered from the forklift.
Benets of Printing from the Forklift
Implementing a forklift system with a Compact4 Mobile printer offers many
benefits including:
Error Reduction – Printing on demand and on location means you no
longer have to move to a centralized printing station where the possibility
of selecting and applying the incorrect shipping labels greatly increases.
Time Savings – Reduces the time needed to move to and from a
centralized printing location to retrieve labels.
Reduce Waste – Reducing the amount of travel to a centralized printing
location saves time and fuel.
