Activity 1 (Keys Available in All Modes)
• Delete: To activate the delete function, press your left pinky finger west. Depending on the
software being used, the delete function can be used to delete single characters, words,
sentences, paragraphs, and complete documents.
• Escape: Activate the escape (esc) function, press the left ring finger west. The escape key
is used to back out of a previously entered function.
• Enter: Press the right ring finger east to activate the Enter (Ent) function. This key is
commonly used in number applications to enter a number and move to the next number
entry.
• Control: The control (cntrl) is activated by pressing the knuckle of the left thumb east. The
control key provides a means of shifting to a different set of activities. The control key is
pressed at the same time another key is activated.
• Backspace: Press the tip of the right thumb west to backspace. Press and hold for
continuous backspacing. The backspace key is used primarily to move to the left on the
screen and delete characters as it moves.
• Alternate: The alternate (alt) key is activated by pressing the knuckle of the right thumb
west. Like the control key, the alternate key provides a means of shifting to a different set
of functions. The alt key is pressed at the same time another key is activated.
