Activity 3 (Letters T, I, H and the Question Mark)
The letter “t” is one of the four keys that is not used with the same finger as on the flat
keyboard. The “t” is introduced early in keyboarding programs because so many words
contain this letter. The letter “t” is entered by pressing the left middle finger east. Key the line
that follows at least three times. Concentrate on making a quick sideward motion when
keying the letter “t.”
let fat last task fast tell ate feat seat Tad data salt late set jet
Now let’s master the letter “h.” The letters “t” and “'h” appear together in countless words.
So it is appropriate to master this reach. The letter “h” is entered by pressing the right index
finger west. Key the line that follows at least three times. Concentrate on increasing your
speed as you repeat the line.
that, halt, heal, hale
,
hat, head, shall, sheet, death, heat, Hal
The last letter in Activity 3 is the letter “I,” a frequently used vowel. Enter the letter “I” by
pressing the right middle finger north. Key the line that follows at least three times.
Concentrate on control. See if you can key at least one of the lines without error.
if. fit. tile. did. diet. it. is. tide. ski. ill. like. dike. Kit. site. list.
The question mark is entered by shifting with the left thumb (push and hold lightly) and
pressing the right little finger south. One space is entered after a question mark. Key the line
that follows at least three times. Concentrate on the motions required to enter the “?.”
Release the shift key once the upper case letter or symbol is keyed.

Key the following sentences. When finished key them again and then once more.
Concentrate on increasing your speed as you repeat the lines.
If Al is fat, I shall diet. Is she the athlete? I like Dad.
Kit is a skilled athlete; she likes detail. Did he ski that hill?
I had a tall hat; did Ted? I had the idea that the tile did fit.
If it is Hal, he is late. Did Heidi fit the task? The kid liked it.
