Locate a Problem Within the Card Production
System
Fortypicalcomponentsofthesystem,referto“CardPrinterSystemOverview ”
onpage 11.Ifanyoneofthefollowingcomponentsdoesnotworkproperly,
printingcardscanbeaffected.
• TheXPSCardPrinterDriver
Shouldyouneedtoreinstallthedrivertofixaproblem,werecommendyou
downloadthelatestversionofthedriverfromhttp://www.datacard.com.
SelectSupport&Drivers>Drivers&Downloadsfromthemenu.Enteryour
printermodelintheEnterProductNameorNumberarea,andclickGo.
• Cardproductionsoftware
Cardproductionsoftwareformatsthetypesofdatausedtoprintcards.Mak e
surethatthecardproductionsoftwarefeaturesyouuseworkwithyour
printer.
Ifyoudonotusecardproductionsoftware,makesurethatthesoftwareyou
usesupportstherequirementsforcreatingcards.Ifyouusemagneticstripe
data,useanapplicationthatsavestextastextandnotasagraphic.(For
example,MicrosoftPaintonlysav esgraphicdata,whileAdobePhotoshop
savesbothgraphicandtextdata.)Fontsandescapesrequirethattextbesent
fromtheapplication astext.
• Printerplug‐in
Cardproductionsoftwaremightrequireaprinterplug‐in,whichtakesthe
datainthecardproductionsoftwareandmakesitavailableintheformthe
drivercanuse.
• Othercomponentsofthesystem
AnIDorbadgesystemusuallyincludesacameratotakephotos,andmay
includeothercapturedevicesforbiometricdata.Theproperuseand
maintenanceofthesecomponentsisimportanttothequalityofcardsyou
produce.
