Maintaintherequiredquietzonearoundthe
actualbarcode,asshownintheillustration.
• Locatebarcodesatleast0.25inch(6.3mm)
fromotherprintingandfromtheedgeofthe
card.
• Forbestresults,orientthecardsothebarsare
paralleltothelongedgesofthecard,asshown.
Thisorientationmostaccuratelyprints
readablebarcodes.
Bar Code Size
•
Alowerdensitybarcodeiseasiertoread,becausethebarsarewiderand
spacedfartherapart.
• Thewidthofthenarrowelementsinthebarcodemustbelargeenoughtobe
readconsistently.Thecapabilitiesofthebarcodereadermightinfluencethis.
• Thebarcodemustbetallenoughtobereadundernormalconditions.
Bar Code Print Settings

Toachievethebestqualityprintingandimprovethereadabilityofthebar
code,usetheK(black)panelofcolorprintribbontoprinttheblackbars.Bar
codesprintedwithYMCpanelsarenotascrispandsharpasthoseprinted
withKonly.
• InfraredreadersrequirethattheKpanelbeusedtoprintthebarcode.
• Barcodesareusuallymorereadablewhentheyareprintedwithlesspower.
• TheANSIstandardforbarcodequality(X3.182)assignsagradetoabarcode
toindicateitsreadability.ChooseaKpowervalueandbarcodesizeto
