System Features
Transmitter
The AlarmView transmitter interfaces with stand-alone patient
monitors. Alarm settings and parameters are entered in the
monitor – the transmitter itself does not screen or select alarms.
When the monitor goes into alarm, the transmitter detects the
alarm from the monitor, then transmits that alarm to an assigned
pager or pagers. The alarm is transmitted as a text message to
the pager(s). Data relayed includes patient bed number, alarm
type, and parameter values.
All transmitters and pagers in an AlarmView System operate on
the same defined frequency and baud rate.
The antenna must be connected to the transmitter before the
transmitter is turned on. Turning the transmitter on without the
antenna connected may damage the transmitter. Do not disconnect
the antenna while the transmitter is turned on.
The AlarmView transmitter is designed for use as a mobile device
as defined by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Do
not place the transmitter on a patient’s or user’s body. Ensure that
the transmitter is located at least 20 cm (8 inches) from a patient or
user’s body. Location of the transmitter closer than 20 cm (8 inches)
to a person’s body will void the user’s FCC authority to operate the
equipment.
