ARRHYTHMIA ANALYSIS

WARNING: Do not initiate a relearn during an episode of arrhythmia, including ST events,
unless it is indicated as stated above. The arrhythmia analysis software may
learn an abnormal beat as the patient’s Normal if the abnormal beat is the
dominant, or most frequently occurring beat, during the learn. If a relearn is
accidentally initiated during an episode of arrhythmia, then initiate another
manual relearn as soon as it is appropriate to do so.
Note: For patients with a pacemaker, the annotations should be N for the dominant
beat or Q for the aberrant normal.
Performing a Learn
1. Press the Setup button form the Main screen.
2. Press the Re-Learn button from the Patient Settings screen to initiate a
relearn.
3. Re-Learn automatically takes place when monitoring resumes after a Smart
Alarm.
Automatic Relearning
Relearning occurs automatically after the following conditions:
•patient admit
the pacer filter blanking period is changed
the process state is changed from None to Pacer
the process state is changed from Pacer to ST
the process state is changed from ST to None
ST alarm parameters are modified
ST measurements are modified
after a local transfer
on resumption of monitoring after a Smart Alarm
after alarm state transitions (See table , “Re-learning After Alarm State Tran-
sitions,” on page 112)
Note: The Central Station automatically initiates a relearn for patients, who are set
to Bedside Arrhythmia, when the lead that is being analyzed changes.
Note: For patients with arrhythmia turned off, the Central Station can initiate
relearns, but it does not display the relearn text.
WARNING: Make sure that an automatic relearn does not occur during an episode of
arrhythmia, including ST events. The arrhythmia analysis software may learn
an abnormal beat as the patient’s Normal if the abnormal beat is the domi-
nant, or most frequently occurring beat, during the learn. If this does occur,
then perform a manual relearn as soon as it is appropriate to do so. See
“Manual Relearning” on page 70.
