The printer has to be switched off. Connect your PC (LPT1:) to the parallel
port on the printer. Press keys 1,4 and Online. Hold the keys pressed and
switch on your printer. The printer is ready for the download when BOOT
appears on the display. Copy the firmware file in a DOS shell eg.
DOWNLOAD.FDF to your printer as follows: copy/b DOWNLOAD.FDF
prn. A progress indicator (bar) and DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE appears in
the display. The frame currently being transferred appears in the top row on
the right of the display. DOWNLOAD OK is displayed briefly if the procedure
was successful. The printer is now ready for use.

Oppostite to standard printers which supports newly designed printer
command sets like MTPL, LQ or PXL24e, this firmware allows you to use
MT50D commands instead to secure backward compatibility. All other items
remain unchanged. Refer to the printer´s Operator´s Manual for detailed
information on how to handle the printer (loading paper, inserting / replacing
the ribbon cassette, programming via the control panel, etc.). NOTE: For
proper emulation of MT50D we recommend the usage of the optional
available Cutting Device.
Only MT50D commands are supported. MTPL sequences are not
implemented. Also PC-Version of MT50D is not supported. For further details
on how to program your printer using the available command sets please see
the Interface Description in English (387740) and German (387738) language
