User Manual Update 2010

Dankoff Solar Slowpump® and Flowlight® Booster Pump
2010 UPDATE to the INSTRUCTION MANUAL
There is NO CHANGE to the installation process.
This bulletin applies only to maintenance and repair.
Our pumps have been improved, with a newly-designed motor and structure. The
new version has a BLACK motor. The improvements are:
• The new motor is fully enclosed against debris.
• Delicate brush holders have been replaced with internal ones.
• Brush life is greatly increased, estimated at 10-20 years.
• The motors can now be considered maintenance-free.
• Wiring interface is improved.
• Pump head mounting is improved. No adjustment is ever necessary.
• Finger guards are added for safety. They snap off instantly for service.
In most cases, brush life will now match the economical service life of the motor.
Until we print a new instruction manual, please disregard the sections on brush
replacement. Inspection or replacement now requires removal of the rear plate of
the motor. DO NOT attempt to do this until you have received illustrated
instructions (included with new brush kits). We feel that this is a reasonable
trade-off to produce a more robust motor with longer brush life.
New (black) motors of ALL voltages now use the same brushes. The new version
brushes are NOT interchangeable with old versions (silver motor).
To observe motor rotation or to turn the coupling by hand, remove one or more of
the black plastic finger guards. Pry sideways, lightly, with a screwdriver to
remove a finger guard.
A revised instruction manual will be available by request or by download from our
web site in summer 2010.
