2.3.2 InterfacethroughCOMobjectAPI
Ifyou wanttodevelopaWindowssoftwareapplicationthatusestheMTiorMTx,you canconsiderusingthe
COMobject API (XsensCMT.DLL). In particular if you are developing your application within another
application such as MATLAB, LabVIEW, Excel, etc. the COMobject is the preferred interface. The
XsensCMT.DLL COMobject provides easy to use function calls to obtain data from the sensor or to change
settings.
ACOMobjectisaDLLthatisregisteredontheoperatingsystem(Windows),soifproperlyinstalledyoucan
access the functions of the COMobject in all Windows applications that support COM. The name of the
functioninterface(IDispatch)is“MotionTracker.CMT”.
TheCOMobjecttakescareofthehardwarecommunicationinterfacinganditisaneasywaytoget(soft)real
timeperformance.TypicallythisispreferredwhenyouwanttoaccesstheMTiorMTx’scapabilitiesdirectlyin
applicationsoftwaresuchasMATLAB,LabVIEW,Excel(VisualBasic),etc.(examplesincludedinMTSDK).Both
pollingandeventsbasedmethodsaresupported.
