synchronize whenever you make a change either on a desktop PC or
on DOT 400.
b. Only upon connection: To synchronize in this mode, connect your
DOT 400 to your desktop PC. ActiveSync will immediately start
synchronization. To synchronize after the first synchronization
manually, click Sync.
c. Manually: In this mode, ActiveSync won’t be triggered
automatically. To synchronize in this mode, click Sync.
Synchronization compares the data on your DOT 400 with the data
on your desktop PC and updates both computers with the most
recent information. You can synchronize any files on your DOT 400
with the corresponding files on your desktop PC such as PIMs data
and E-mail messages.
Resolving synchronization conflicts
If a problem or conflict occurs during synchronization, it will be
marked as unresolved in ActiveSync and on your DOT 400. You can
resolve problems at your convenience.
ActiveSync may not be able to perform synchronization for many
different reasons. For example, if you are trying to access your
Microsoft Outlook information and the mail server is not available,
ActiveSync will not be able to synchronize your Calendar, Contacts,
Tasks, or Inbox items. A conflict might occur because an item has
been changed both on your DOT 400 and on your desktop PC.
You can modify your conflict resolution settings so that ActiveSync
will not register conflicts as unresolved items. By selecting DOT
400 or the desktop PC as the default version, ActiveSync will
automatically replace the information on the other computer. To
avoid resolving conflicts manually, set your conflict resolution
settings so that ActiveSync always uses the version on either DOT
400 or the desktop PC.
