Setting Up VPI/VCI and QoS
After logging in to the DSL router, if no PVC is congured previ-
ously and no default settings exist, the Quick Setup webpage
will appear This contains some basic conguration that is needed
by ATM PVC. The following introduction guides you through the
necessary steps to congure your DSL Router.
Based on your ISP's instructions, specify the following parameters:
VP I (Virtual Path Identier)- Virtual path between two points in
an ATM network. The valid value range is from 0 to 255.
VCI (Virtual Channel Identier)- Virtual channel between two
points in an ATM network. The valid value range is from 32 to
65535 (1 to 31 are reserved for known protocols).
Enable Quality of Service - Enabling QoS for a PVC improves
performance for selected classes of applications. However,
since QoS also consumes system resources, the number of
PVCs are reduced consequently. Go to Advanced Setup >
Quality of Service to assign priorities for the applications.
Check the DSL Auto-connect box and then click Next.
If the ADSL connection is down, uncheck the DSL Auto-connect
and then click Next to manually assign the VPI and VCI values.
