5.6 Hot Plug
The DKVM -IP8 suppor ts a “Hot Plug“ function for easy addition or removal of PCs. The user can arrange or
main tain PCs as follows:
1. A PC can be disconnected and reconnected to the same or different port of the KVM unit without
having to power
it
of
f
as long as
it
is not
t
he Daisy -chain port or pass through port.
2. You may unplug the mouse or the keyboard from the console port and plug
it
back in at any time.
Note
:
Some operating system, e.g. Unix, are unable to support the “Hot Plug” function.
If
you apply
“Hot Plug” to this kind of operating system
, it
will cause unpred ictable beh avior or shut down the PC.
Before attempting to use “Hot Plug”, please make sure your OS and mouse
driver
support the “Hot Plug”
function.
5.7 On Screen Display Operation
The On Screen Display (OSD) menu can be opened by pressing the hot key combination (<Scroll Lock> +
<Scroll Lock> + <Spacebar>). The following window will be displayed on your monito r

The first section displays the active bank numbe r

The second section displays the list o
f
systems. A sun symb ol ☼ indicat es that a computer is
connected
t
o that port and powered on.
You will find the system number list from 01 to 08 (DKVM -IP8). You can customize the
PC names, up to a maximum of 10 characters. The factory default names are from “SYST EM
01”, “SY STEM 02”, etc.
Use the up arrow key “
“ or down arrow key “
“ to select the port.

ter you have selected the port,
you can press

he <Enter> key to switch to the PC connected
t
o that port. Press the “INS” key to edit the
PC name.

er you are finished , press the <En ter> key to save the information.
Use the <PgUp> key or <PgDn> key for selec ting the previous or next Bank numbe r
.
Use the <Tab> key to select items like Bank, OSD, SCAN, CHANGE PASSWORD, CO NSOLE
