2.1 I nt roduct ion
The following describes how to swit ch from the Microsoft driver t o t he WI DCOMM driver on
Windows XP so t hat t he BTW Bluetooth software can be used wit h your Bluet oot h USB device.
This problem m ay arise when installing t he WI DCOMM Bluet oot h softw are on Windows XP
SP1/ SP2. When the device is first inserted t he syst em attem pt s to locat e a signed driver t hat
will w ork wit h the device. I n t his case t he Microsoft driver is installed first if it s Bluet oot h
driver support s t he device being inst alled.
2.2 I nst alling the Widcom m Bluetoot h driver
2.2.1 CHECK TO SEE I F THE MI CROSOFT DRI VER I S I NSTALLED
The Device Manager can be opened by right clicking on t he “ My Com put er” icon and select ing
the “ Propert ies” m enu opt ion. When t he Propert ies dialog appears select the “ Hardware” tab
and t hen click the “ Device Manager” but t on.
When Microsoft st ack is in cont rol then t he Bluet oot h Ra dios cat egory is present in t he
Device Manager as shown below, Figure 1. There will be 2/ 3 devices under that cat egory,
depending on the im plem ent at ion, these are:
• Bluet oot h Print ing Support
• Microsoft Bluetooth Enum erator
• “ Act ual device” . ( Exam ple: NanoSira Bluetooth Reference Radio)
