Useful information about valves
Valves are electronic components which offer superb
sound qualities, but they do require a certain level of care
due to their construction. This is primarily a factor of the
delicate mechanical nature of the components. Valves
are fitted with a heating filament which has a finite useful
life, similar to the filament in an incandescent light bulb.
In the D10 a micro-processor controls the heating of the
valves and ensures that this process is as gentle as
possible, and that they are always protected from over-
loading. The operating voltages supplied to the valves
are electronically stabilised, so that fluctuations in the
mains supply voltage have no adverse effect on the
valves.
The unit’s specially developed shock-absorbing feet
damp out mechanical shock and vibration.
All these design features make the D10 extremely
reliable, and are your guarantee that the unit will give
long, problem-free service.
However, although the machine incorporates sophisti-
cated protective systems, you as user can also play a
part in obtaining the best possible sound and life
expectancy from your valves.
Please note the following points in this respect:
Avoid switching the unit on and off frequently!
Avoid subjecting the unit to severe mechanical shocks!
Allow the machine to cool down for at least one hour
before transporting it or moving to another location.
Do not remove the protective grilles over the valves,
and never touch the valves with your bare hands!
