Channel:
The frequency channel that the Access Point uses.
Security:
Can be
None
,
WEP
,
WPA-PSK
,
WPA-Radius, or Radius
.
BSS Type:
I nfrastruct ure or Ad-Hoc.
Mode
: This is m ax speed that the Access Point can provide. I t can be G (54Mbps) or
B( 11Mpbs) m ode .
MAC Address: address of access point.
To refresh the list , click the
Refresh
but t on. When the search is finished, the list will
show all available Access Point s. To connect to one of the Access Point s on t he list ,
select the desired Access Point by clicking t he SSI D field of the entry, then click the
Connect
but t on to connect to t he select ed Access Point. You can also sort t he
available Access Point s by clicking on t he colum n heading.
5.4.4 Wireless Security: WEP and WPA (WiFi-Protected Access)
Set t ing Wir eless Security.
A popup window will allow you t o configure t he security t ype for your wireless
connection. There are
2 situations that it will appear
:
1.) When you click on
Set Security
in the
Configuration
page.
2.) When you are trying to connect t o an secured Access Point from
Site Monitor
page.
This box will att em pt to configure itself t o the appropriate aut hentication t ype
whenever possible. For exam ple: if you t ry t o connect to an Access Point wit h WPA
securit y, t his box will pop up WPA authent ication setup for you to input inform at ion.
Of course, you will st ill have t he opt ion of changing it to anot her authent icat ion
type.
There are 5 options in t he Authentication select ion box: None, WEP, WPAPSK,
WPA- Radius, and Radius. Each authenticat ion ty pe pr ovides it s own level of
security.
1.) Authentication = NONE
– This opt ion m eans securit y is t urned off for this
connection.
2.) Authentication = WEP Open/Shared
Encryption Status - This opt ion includes WEP64, and WEP128
WEP 64/WEP128 - The 64- bit and 128- bit WEP encryption algorithm provided by
RSA uses RC4 encrypt ion and decryption, which is based on a 40- bit key, and
104- bit key respect ively. Select the sam e encrypt ion t hat is used by your Access
Point .
