Our new HPDISO family of relay output digital I/O boards
make it easy to control real-world industrial devices directly
from your PC. All of them offer wide input ranges, optical
isolation, ESD protection, overvoltage protection, and reset
protection — just the attributes needed to work successfully
in electrically noisy, static-prone shop floors and laboratories.
Some typical automation applications include industrial
ON/OFF control, switch status sensing, control of
semiconductor machinery, actuation and monitoring of test
and measurement equipment, and driving external relays.
Detailed specifications for each board are shown in the
comparison charts on pp. 150~152 Some common features
that are particularly useful in industry include:
• Wide input ranges: These boards accept input voltages
from 10 to 50 VDC, so they suit applications with 12, 24,
or 48 VDC inputs. Input currents can range up to 17.3 mA
• Robust protection: All three boards have overvoltage
protection up to 70 VDC, and all offer ESD protection up to
2000 VDC. HPDISO 16 and 08LU provide optical isolation
to 2500 VDC; HPDISO 08 has optical isolation to 3750 VDC.
• Reset protection: Unexpected hot resets, when system
power is not turned off, are protected by a jumper on
each board. You can choose to retain the output values
of each channel or reset all relays to an “open” condition.
• Individual board ID: A built-in DIP switch helps identify
boards when more than one of the same type is installed.
Our HDIO ISO32LU PCI digital I/O board offers an unusually
low cost per point, yet its high input and output voltage ranges
plus 2,500 V
DC optical isolation make it rugged enough for both
industrial and student applications. It’s ideal for industrial ON/OFF
control and automation, switch sensing, and BCD interfacing.
