GETTING STARTED WITH MUZZLELOADING
All CVA break-action muzzleloaders are capable of handling a “magnum” powder
charge of 150 grains by volume when using approved pelletized powder (typically
charges of loose powder exceeding 110 grains will not fully burn in the barrel).
Such “magnum” loads should never be red in sidelock guns or in any other in-line
ries that do not feature a one-piece barrel design.
After fully reading and understanding this manual, remove the gun and 1.
related tools from the box.
Safety First! Verify that the gun is unloaded and the barrel is clear! 2.
Pull the lower tang of the trigger guard to the rear to unlock the barrel.
Remove the breechplug by unscrewing it with your ngers, no tool should
be necessary. Visually inspect the barrel by looking through it. Proceed
only if you can see that the barrel is clear.
Clean the shipping grease from the inside and outside of the barrel.3.
Apply CVA breechplug grease or high temperature anti-seize compound 4.
to the breech plug threads.
Replace the breech plug in the barrel. Turn it in only until it is snug, 5. do
not over tighten.
Check all mechanical functions described in this pamphlet. 6.
Understand all terminology and procedures prior to loading or ring.7.
Get any and all questions and doubts answered prior to loading or 8.
ring.
