Section 5 - FIRE-FIGHTING MEASURES
Ingestion:
Call a Poison Control Center or doctor immediately for treatment advice. Have person sip a
glass of water if able to swallow. Do not induce vomiting unless told to by a Poison Control
Center or doctor. Do not give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.

Symptoms of exposure may include, irritation of eyes and nose, cough and/or shortness of
breath.

Treatment Needed:
Immediate medical attention should not be required.
Dry chemical, CO2, water spray or alcohol-resistant foam. CAUTION: For fire
involving alcohol or polar solvent, alcohol-resistant foam should be used.
CAUTION: All these products have a very low flash point: Use of water spray
when fighting fire may be inefficient.
and Precautions for Firefighters:
Keep upwind of fire. Inhalation or contact with material may irritate or burn
skin and eyes. Fire may produce irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases. Vapors
may cause dizziness or suffocation. Wear positive pressure self-contained
breathing apparatus (SCBA). Structural firefighters’ protective clothing will only
provide limited protection.
Water spray, fog or alcohol-resistant foam. Do not use straight streams. Move
containers from fire area if you can do it without risk.
In case of contact, wash skin with plenty of water. If skin irritation or redness develops,
seek medical attention.
In case of contact, flush eyes with plenty of water for 15 minutes. Remove contact lenses,
if present, after the first 5 minutes, then continue rinsing. Call a Poison Control Center or
doctor for treatment advice.

Inhalation:
Remove person to fresh air and keep comfortable for breathing. Call a poison
center/doctor if you feel unwell.
HIGHLY FLAMMABLE: Will be easily ignited by heat, sparks or flames. Vapors
may form explosive mixtures with air. Vapors may travel to source of ignition
and flash back. Most vapors are heavier than air. They will spread along ground
and collect in low or confined areas (sewers, basements, tanks). Vapor
