Step 1
Remove the driver side taillight assembly. There will be a black
connector on the vehicle wiring harness similar to that found on
the custom wiring harness. Slide the red connector lock aside
and disconnect the vehicle harness from the taillight assembly
taking care not to damage the locking tabs (A).
Step 2
Carefully pull the vehicle wiring harness and the rubber
grommet out a short distance from the vehicle and slit the
rubber grommet (B).
Step 3
Remove the vehicle jack storage cover located inside the rear
of the vehicle on the driver side and the hatch threshold (C).
Step 4
Pull back the left trim panel to expose the area behind the
taillights. It may be necessary to remove the tape covering the
access hole between the jack storage compartment and the
area behind the taillight assembly. Route the custom wiring
harness behind the trim panel out through the taillight (D).
Step 5
Insert the custom wiring harness end with yellow wire between
the separated connectors. Secure the connectors together
with the red locking tabs. Insert the harness wires through the
grommet slit and reseat in the mounting hole. Use the provided
sealant to seal the cut in the grommet and around all the wires.
Step 6
Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector such as
an existing screw with nut in the vehicle frame or drill a 3/32"
pilot hole for the provided screw. The area should be free of
rust, dirt and paint. Secure the white ground wire using the ring
terminal and provided screw.
WARNING: Check for miscellaneous items that may be
hidden behind or under any surface before drilling to avoid
damage and / or personal injury.
Step 7
Route the 4-flat plug on the custom wiring harness behind the
trim panel and into the jack storage compartment. Secure black
box and additional wiring. Reposition the tape removed in step
4 over the wires to seal the jack compartment.
Step 8
When in use, route the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle and out
of the trunk. When not in use, roll up and store in a convenient,
out of the way location inside the trunk. Secure any loose wires
with the provided cable ties.
Step 9
Reinstall all items removed during install. Install the
provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
