CONTROLLERS
The controller is the “brain” of the system; it takes the input
signals from sensor/throttle and converts it into pulses that the
motor can use. The controller is also “smart”. If it senses there
is no input coming in after fi ve minutes, it turns the bike
off to conserve battery power. Therefore if the power switch
is in the “on” position and the lights on the battery gauge are
off and there is no power to the hub motor, the controller most
likely went into stasis mode. To reset, cycle the switch “OFF”
and “ON”.
If the battery pack voltage is low (<21v) the controller will
automatically turn off to prevent irreparable damage to
the battery pack. At or near this point, the motor may start
shuddering (vibrating or making a strange shaking noise).
Recharge battery before using again.
ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS
BRAKE INHIBITORS
A microswitch housed inside of the brake lever body activates
when the brake lever in pulled thus cutting power to the motor.
Depending on your model of hybrid electric bicycle you may
have one or two brake inhibitors.
If the brake inhibitor needs replacing the entire brake lever
assembly will need to be replaced as the microswitch is not
removable from the brake lever body.
