MOTORS
All hybrid electric bicycles are powered via an electric motor.
Various types and wattage levels of motors are used depending
on your model of hybrid electric bicycle.
MOTOR - HORIZONTAL MOUNT
The motor is mounted on a motor plate and is hung horizontally
in relation to the rear axle. The output of the motor is run thru
reduction gears to an output gear. A chain connects the output
gear to the rear wheel.
MOTOR - VERTICAL MOUNT
The motor is mounted on a motor plate and is hung vertically
in relation to the rear axle. The output of the motor is run thru
reduction gears to an output gear. A chain connects the output
gear to the rear wheel.
MOTOR - HUB MOTOR
The motor is housed inside the front or rear hub (depending on
your model of hybrid electric bicycle) and drives the wheel via a
planetary gear system. This gear system reduces the speed of
the electric motor and provides the torque needed.
