Cummins Power Generation fully au tomat i c
battery chargers are constant v o l t ag e/co ns t an t
current chargers incorporating a 4 - s t age
charging algorithm. Designed for use in
applications where battery life and relia bilit y are
important; these chargers, complete w i t h built-
in equalize charge capability, are ideal fo r
stationary or portable starting battery c ha rgi n g
service.
To achieve optimum battery life, a 4 - s t a g e
charging cycle is implemented. The fo ur
charging stages are constant current, high-rate
taper charge, finishing charge, and maintaining
charge. During the constant current cycle t he
charger operates at maximum possible output
in the fast charge mode. During the high-rate
taper charge cycle the charger stays at f as t
charge voltage level until battery cu rren t
acceptance falls to a portion of the chargers
rated output. During the finishing charge cycl e
the charger operates at the float voltage an d
completes the battery charge. During t he
maintaining charge cycle the charger su pp lies
only a few milliamps required by the battery to
stay at peak capab ili t y.
An optional temperature sensor (A043D534)
may be us ed to adjust charging voltage based
on temperature of the battery. Use of a
batt ery temperature sensor helps to increase
batt ery life by preventing over or under
charging. The battery temperature sensor
also protects t he battery from overheating.
Temperature compensation sensor is
required for all applications when battery
charger and battery are located in different
temperature or battery heater is being used.
Battery chargers are field-configurable fo r
charging either 12 or 24 VDC battery sy st e m s
at 50/60 Hz operation. Simple jumper
sel ecto rs enable selection of output voltage
and batt ery type.
Protection – Surge protected to IEEE and
EN standards. All models include single po le
cartridge type fuses mounted on the p ri nted
circuit board to protect against input or o u tput
o ver cu rren t .
Easy installation – Clearly marked terminal
blocks and panel knockouts provide co nvenien t
connections of input and output leads.
User display – Output voltage and current,
f aul t information and status are indicated on the
f r ont panel. Includes precision ammeter an d
v o l tmet er.
Monitoring – Status LED indicators are
provided to show the condition of the charger.

operational functions for Temperature
Compensation active ( Green ) , AC on ( Green ) ,
Float ( Green ) or Boost ( A mb er) mode, as well as
Battery Fault ( R ed ) . LED’s on the left side of t he
monitor illuminate (in R ed ) when Charger fail,
High or Low VDC or AC fail occ ur.
Adjustable float voltage – Float voltage
c an be set, using easy to understand jumpers,
for optimum battery performance and life.
Construction – NEMA-1 (IP20) corro si on
resistant aluminum enclosure designed for w all
mounting .
Faults – The charger senses and annunciates
t he following fault conditions: AC power loss,
batt ery overvoltage, battery under voltage, battery
fault conditions and charger failure. Includes an
individual 30 volt/2 amp isolated contact for each
alarm.
Vibration resistant design – complies with
UL991 class B vibration resistance requirements.
Listed – C-UL listed to UL 1236 CSA s t a nd ar d
22.2 No 107.2-M89. Suited for flooded and AGM
lead acid and NiCd batteries in generator s et
ins t alla tio ns.
