7. Loosen the jam nuts on both ends of the tie rod(s).
See Figure 6.79.
8. Disconnect the tie rod end from inboard steering
gear using a pair of 1/2” wrenches.
See Figure 6.80.
9. Remove the hex screw and washer from the top
side of the inboard steering gear shaft in place using
a 1/2” wrench.
See Figure 6.81.
NOTE: A 5/16” lock pin or pin punch can be used to
lock the inboard steering gear, unless the
gear is broken.
10. Slide the inboard steering gear shaft out of the axle
casting.
