REPLACING THE BELT COVER
Removingthe Belt Cover
1. Usea3/8"wrenchto removeboth
screws(D, E,Figure5-1).

2. Liftthe backendofthecoverthen
carefullypullout.
Do notoperatethe mowerwithoutthe
belt cover in place. Doing so could
result in personalinjury or damageto
components.
When working near the blade, wear
heavy leatherglovesto protectyourself
fromthesharpedgesonthe blade.
ENGINEOILSERVICE
Checkthe engineoil levelbeforestarting
theengineeachdayand aftereach5
hours of continuousoperation. Running
the enginewhenthe oil levelis lowwill
quicklyruin the engine.
Changeengineoilafter thefirst 2 hours
of break-in operation,thereafter,inaccor-
dancewith your EngineOwnersManual.
Changemore ofteninextremelydirty or
dusty conditions. Refertothe Engine
Owner'sManualfor detailedinformation
onchangingoil.
SERVICINGTHEAIRCLEANER
The engineair cleanerfilters dirt anddust
outof the air beforeit entersthe carbure-
tor. Operatingthe enginewith adirty,
cloggedaircleanercancausepoorper-
formanceanddamageto the engine.
Neveroperatethe enginewithout the air
cleanerinstalled. Inspectandservicethe
air cleanermore oftenif operatinginvery
dusty or dirty conditions.
Servicethe aircleaneras instructedinthe
separateEngineOwner'sManual.
Replacingthe Belt Cover
1. Seatthe rearendof the cover. Make
surethatbothcontrolcablesarerouted
throughthe cutoutinthe rearof the
cover. Thiswillhelppreventdamage
causedbypinchingthe cablesunderthe
coverorcontactwiththetransmission
pulley or belt.
2. Tightenscrewssnugly.Donot ever-
tighten(D,E, Figure5-1).

1. Beforetipping the mower,makesure
thatthefuel tankis emptyto preventthe
possibilityof gasolinespillage. See
