Harness/GCU Trouble Shooting and
Diagnostic Procedures

2. Remove the GCU and unplug the wiring harness. See
Figures 6 and 7.

Ground and Power Tests
The following two tests check for power and ground
supply to the GCU. If either test fails the harness, electrical
connections, or electrical system needs repair.
NOTE: It is important to use the proper sized probes to
preform the following test. Probes that are the
incorrect size can damage the connector or harness
plug.
Test 1: Identify the following probe location in the connector.
Using a continuity tester, check for a good ground. See
Figure 8. If the ground is faulty, inspect the unit ground,

connections or replace any faulty parts.
If test 1 checks ok locate the following wire ends in the plug,
and check using test #2.
Test 2: Identify the following probe location in the connector.
Using a 12 volt meter test for voltage. See Figure 9. The

- Check connections and replace wiring harness if necessary.
