Loose/Cracked Flywheel Ring Gears
ȱȱ¢ȱȱȱȱȱȱȱȱȱĚ¢ȱ
beginning in 2006. Due to isolated cases of failure, we have made a change from powdered
metal ring gears to steel ring gears.
If you have a situation of the starter engaging but not cranking the engine over on a unit within
the serial numbers listed, check to see if the ring gear has cracked and separated (see Figure 1).

SV470-SV620 engines between Serial Numbers 36142xxxxx and 3807030423, and
SV710-SV840 engines between Serial Numbers 36142xxxxx and 3806308723, were built
with a steel or a powdered metal ring gear.

separately. At the same time, inspect the starter pinion for any damage and replace it as
required. Normal warranty terms will apply.
