• The engine harness contains wires for the cir-
cuits listed in the table below:
17. The Fuel Pump for the Caterpillar engine is
mounted under the console support bracket. It
is easily accessible by lifting the passenger’s
seat. See Figure 9.19.
• A single orange wire provides power to the fuel
pump. Ground is through the frame via a short
jumper wire from the pump to the pump mount-
ing bolts.
• The orange wire provides battery voltage,
unfused, from the regulator when the key is in
any position other than STOP. This is the same
circuit that powers the fuel shut-off solenoid.
• When the fuel pump is in operation, it makes an
audible clattering that can be identified with the
key on /engine off.
• A slight vibration or pulsation is noticeable to the
touch on the pump and fuel line when the pump
is in operation.
• If the fuel system is dry, the pump will be espe-
cially loud until it has drawn a prime.
• The Kohler engine uses a mechanical fuel
pump.
