Checking Engine Oil Level
Checkengineoillevelbeforeeachuse as follows:
• Placethetractoron a flatsurfaceand stopthe
engine.Allowthe engineto cool longenoughfor the
oilto draininto theenginesump.
• Cleantheareaaroundthe oildipstick!fillcap.
• Unscrewthedipstick/fillcap fromthe fill tube onthe
engine.Removethedipstickandwipethe oiloff.
Reinsertthe dipstickinto thetube andrestthe cap
onthe tube.Do notscrewthe caponto thetube.See

Changing Engine Oil & Filter
Changethe engineoiland oilfilterafterevery100hours
of operation.
• Runtheenginefor a shorttimeto warmthe engine
oil. Theoil willflow morefreelyandcarryawaymore
impurities.
• Locatetheoildrainvalveon the rightsideof the
engine,beneaththe startermotor.Referto Figure15.
• Popopenthe protectivecap onthe endof the oil
drainvalveto exposethedrainport. Pushthe oil drain
hose(packedwiththismanual)ontotheoil drainport.
Routethe oppositeendof the hoseintoanappropriate
oilcollectioncontainerwitha capacitygreatenoughto
collectthe usedoil.
Removetheoil fill cap/dipstickfromthe oil fill tube.
Pushthedrainvalvein slightlyandturn counterclock-
wiseuntilit stop,thenpullthe valvefullyoutwardto
openthevalveanddrainthe oil. SeeFigure17.

Aftertheoil hasfinisheddraining,pushtheoil drain
valvebackin, rotateit clockwiseto lockthe valve
closed.Removethe drainhoseandre-capthe endof
the oildrainvalveto keepdebrisfromentering.
Fromthe left sideof the engine,removetheoil filter
usinganautomotivetypeoil filterwrench(SeeFigure
18).Wipe thefilteradapterwitha cleancloth.
Placethe newoilfilterin a shallowpanwithopenend
up. Pournewoil, of the propertype, intothe center
threadedhole.Stoppouringwhenthe oil reachesthe
