Front To Rear Leveling
Thefrontof the cuttingdeckis supportedby an adjust-
ablefrontdeckhangerrod. Thisrodcan beadjusted
to setthe frontto rearpitchof the deck.The frontof the
deckshouldbe between1/4-inchand3/8-inch lowerthan
the rearof the deck.Adjustif necessaryas follows:
1. Withthetractorparkedon a firm,levelsurface,move
thedeckto themid heightposition(thirdorfourth
notch)usingthe decklift lever.Rotatethe blade
nearestthe dischargechuteso thatit is parallelwith
thetractorframe.
2. Measurethe distancefromthe frontof the bladetip to
thegroundandthe rearof the bladetip to the ground.
Thefrontmeasurementtakenshouldbebetween1/4"
and3/8" lessthanthe rearmeasurement.Determine
theapproximatedistancenecessaryfor properadjust-
mentand proceed,if necessary,to the nextstep.
3. Workingat the frontof the tractor,loosenthe twohex
locknutsat the frontof the deckhangerrod.Thread
the locknutsawayfromthe hexnutsbehindthem.

4. Usinga wrench,turn the innerhex nutsclockwise
to raisethe frontof the deck,orcounterclockwiseto
lowerthe frontof the deck.Adjustthe hexnutsevenly
so thatthe deckhangerrodis at the frontof bothslots
inthe hangerbracketon the frontof thedeck. See
Figure11.
5. Retightenthe two hexlocknutswhenproperly
adjusted.
Deck Gauge Wheel Adjustment
NOTE: The deckgaugewheelsarean anti-scalpfeature
of thedeckandare notdesignedto supportthe weightof
thecuttingdeck.
Thedeckgaugewheelsshouldneithercontactthe
ground,norbe highoff the ground,whenthe deckis
movedto the desiredheightsetting.If youchangeyour
cuttingheightduringthe mowingseason,the gauge
wheelsshouldbecheckedandadjustedas necessary.
Adjustthegaugewheelsas follows:
Placethe tractorona smooth,flatsurfaceandmove
thedeckto the desiredmowingheightusingthe deck
lift lever.
Checkgaugewheelsdistancefromtheflat surface
below.Ifthe gaugewheelscontactthe ground,they
mustbe raised.Ifthe gaugewheelsarehigherthan
1/2"abovetheground,they shouldbelowered.
Removethe shoulderbolt securingone of thefront
ballwheelsto the frontindexbracket.Repositionthe
ballwheelto alignwiththeoneof four indexholes
thatplacesthe wheel1/4"to 1/2"abovethe ground.
Securethe ballwheelto the indexbracketwiththe
shoulderbolt.Notethe indexholeusedandsecure
theother ballwheelinthe sameposition.SeeFigure
