plugwire(s)beforeperformingany
adjustments,repairsor maintenance.
Steering and Transmission Linkage
Thesteeringtie rodanddraglinksandthe related
transmissionlinkagearesetat the factoryand should
not requirefurtheradjustment.Becauseof the complex
adjustmentprocedure,the steeringand transmission
linkageshouldonly beservicedor adjustedby a qualified
mechanic.If youexperienceproblemswith steering,or
withthe hydrodrivetransmissions,contactyournearest
CubCadetdealerto havethetractorinspected.
Adjusting the Seat
WARNING: After adjusting the seat
__lb r before driving the tractor, make
sure that the seat adjustment lever is
engaged in the seat index plate and
that the seat will not move. Do not
adjust the seatwhile the tractor is
being driven. Adjusting the seat while
the tractor is moving could cause the
operator to lose control of the tractor.
1. Whilesittingin theseat,graspthe seatadjustment
leveronthe left sideof the seatandpullit upwardto
disengagefromthe seatindexplate.SeeFigure9.
2. Slidethe seattothedesiredposition.SeeFigure9.
3. Oncethe desiredpositionis reached,releasethe seat
lever.Slidethe seatslightlyforeandaft as necessary
to engagethe seatleverinto oneof the eightadjust-
mentpositionsinthe indexplate.Makecertainthe
seatis lockedin position.
Leveling the Deck
NOTE:Checkthetractor'stire pressurebeforeperform-
ingany decklevelingadjustments.Referto Tireslaterin
thissectionforfurtherinformationregardingtirepressure.
Side to Side Leveling
If thecuttingdeckappearsto bemowingunevenly,a side
to sideadjustmentcan beperformed.Adjustif necessary
as follows:
1. Withthetractorparkedon a firm,levelsurface,move
the deckto the midheightposition(thirdor fourth
notch)usingthe decklift lever.Rotateboth bladesso
thattheyareperpendicularwiththe tractorframe.
2. Measurethe distancefromthe outsideof the leftblade
tip to the groundandthe distancefromtheoutsideof
the rightbladetip to the ground.Bothmeasurements
takenshouldbeequal.If they'renot,notewhetherthe
leftside of the deckis loweror higherand proceedto
the nextstep.
3. Workingfromthe leftside of the tractor,loosen,but do
not remove,the hexcap screwonthe left deckhanger
bracket.SeeFigure11.

4. Toeventhe deckturnthe adjustmentgear,located
immediatelybehindthe hexcap screw,clockwise
(rearward)toraisethe leftside of the deck.Turnthe
gearcounter-clockwise(towardfront)to lowerthe left
sideof the deck. SeeFigure11.
5. Thedeckis properlyleveledwhenbothbladetip
measurements,as describedearlier,are equal.
6. Retightenthe hexcap screwonthe leftdeckhanger
bracketwhenproperadjustmentis achieved.

Beforeoperating
this machine,
makesurethe seat
isengagedinthe
seatstop.While
sittinginthe seat
beforeyoustart
thetractor,check
thatthe seatwill
notslidefore or
aft.
