CALIFORNIA EMISSION CONTROL WARRANTY STATEMENT
YOUR WARRANTY RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS
TheCaliforniaAir ResourcesBoardandMTDConsumerGroupIncare pleasedto explaintheevaporativeemissioncontrolsystemwarrantyonyour 2007lawn
mower.InCalifornia,new lawnmowermust bedesigned,builtand equippedto meettheState'sstringentanti-smogstandards.MTDConsumerGroupInc must
warrantthe EECSon yourlawn mowerfor the periodoftime listedbelowprovidedthere hasbeenno abuse,neglector impropermaintenanceof your lawnmower.
YourEECSmayincludepartssuchas thecarburetor,fuel-injectionsystem,the ignitionsystem,catalyticconverter,fueltanks,fuel lines,fuelcaps,valves,
canisters,filters,vaporhoses,clamps,connectors,and otherassociatedemission-relatedcomponents.
Where a warrantable condition exists, MTDConsumer Group Inc will repair your lawn mower at no cost to you includingdiagnosis, parts and labor.
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY COVERAGE:
Thisevaporativeemissioncontrolsystemis warrantedfor two years.If anyevaporativeemission-relatedpart on yourequipmentis defective,the partwill be
repairedor replacedby MTDConsumerGroupInc.
OWNER'S WARRANTY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Asthe lawn mowerowner,youare responsiblefor performanceofthe requiredmaintenancelistedin yourowner'smanual. MTDConsumerGroupIncrecom-
mendsthat youretainall receiptscoveringmaintenanceonyour lawnmower,but MTDConsumerGroup Inccannotdenywarrantysolelyforthe lack of receipts.
Asthe lawn mowerowner,youshouldhoweverbeawarethat MTDConsumerGroupInc maydeny youwarrantycoverageif your lawnmoweror a part hasfailed
dueto abuse,neglect,orimpropermaintenanceor unapprovedmodifications.
Youare responsiblefor presentingyourlawn mowerto MTDConsumerGroupInc'sdistributioncenteror servicecenteras soonas the problemexists.The
warrantyrepairsshouldbecompletedin a reasonableamountof time, nottoexceed30 days.If youhavea questionregardingyour warrantycoverage,youshould
contactthe MTDConsumerGroupIncServiceDepartmentat 1-800-800-7310.
GENERAL EMISSIONS WARRANTY COVERAGE:
MTDConsumerGroupIncwarrantsto the ultimatepurchaserand eachsubsequentpurchaserthat the lawnmoweris:Designed,builtandequippedso as to
conformwithall applicableregulations;andfree from defectsin materialsand workmanshipthat causethe failure ofa warrantedpartto beidenticalin allmaterial
respectstothat partas describedin MTDConsumerGroupInc'sapplicationfor certification.
Thewarrantyperiodbeginsonthedatethe lawnmoweris deliveredto an ultimatepurchaseror firstplaced intoservice.The warrantyperiodistwo years.
Subjecttocertainconditionsand exclusionsas statedbelow,the warrantyonemission-relatedparts isas follows:
1. Anywarrantedpartthat isnotscheduledfor replacementas requiredmaintenanceinthe writteninstructionssupplied,is warrantedfor thewarranty period
statedabove.Ifthe part fails duringthe periodofwarrantycoverage,the part willbe repairedor replacedby MTDConsumerGroupIncaccordingto subsection
(4)below.Anysuchpart repairedor replacedunderwarrantywillbe warrantedfor the remainderofthe period.
2. Anywarrantedpartthat isscheduledonly for regularinspectioninthe writteninstructionssuppliediswarrantedfor thewarranty periodstatedabove.Any such
partrepairedor replacedunderwarrantywill bewarrantedfor the remainingwarrantyperiod.
3. Anywarrantedpartthat isscheduledfor replacementas requiredmaintenancein thewritten instructionssuppliedis warrantedforthe periodoftime beforethe
firstscheduledreplacementdatefor that part.If the partfails beforethe firstscheduledreplacement,the partwillbe repairedor replacedby MTDConsumer
GroupIncaccordingto subsection(4)below.Any such part repairedor replacedunderwarrantywillbewarrantedforthe remainderofthe periodpriorto the
firstscheduledreplacementpointfor the part.
4. Repairor replacementof anywarrantedpart underthe warrantyprovisionshereinmustbeperformedat a warrantystationatno chargeto theowner.
5. Notwithstandingthe provisionsherein,warrantyservicesorrepairswill beprovidedatall ofour distributioncentersthat arefranchisedto servicethe subject
enginesor equipment.
6. Thelawnmowerownerwillnot bechargedfor diagnosticlaborthat is directlyassociatedwithdiagnosisof a defective,emission-relatedwarrantedpart,
providedthat suchdiagnosticworkis performedat a warrantystation.
7. MTDConsumerGroupInc isliablefor damagesto otherengineor equipmentcomponentsproximatelycausedby a failureunderwarrantyof anywarranted
part.
8. Throughoutthe lawnmowerwarrantyperiodstated above,MTDConsumerGroupIncwill maintaina supplyof warrantedparts sufficientto meetthe expected
demandfor suchparts.
9. Anyreplacementpart maybe usedinthe performanceof anywarrantymaintenanceorrepairsand mustbe providedwithoutchargetothe owner.Suchusewill
notreducethe warrantyobligationsofMTDConsumerGroupInc.
10.Add-onor modifiedpartsthat are notexemptedbythe Air ResourcesBoardmaynot beused.Theuseof any non-exemptedadd-on or modifiedpartsbythe
ultimatepurchaserwillbegroundsfor disallowinga warrantyclaims.MTDConsumerGroup Incwill notbe liabletowarrantfailuresof warrantedpartscaused
bythe useof a non-exemptedadd-onor modifiedpart.
WARRANTED PARTS:
Therepairor replacementof anywarrantedpartotherwiseeligiblefor warrantycoveragemaybeexcludedfromsuch warrantycoverageifMTDConsumerGroup
Inc demonstratesthat the lawnmowerhasbeenabused,neglected,or improperlymaintained,andthat suchabuse,neglect,or impropermaintenancewasthe
directcauseof the needfor repairor replacementof the part.Thatnotwithstanding,anyadjustmentofa componentthathasa factory installed,and properly
operating,adjustmentlimitingdeviceisstill eligiblefor warrantycoverage.Thefollowingemissionwarrantypartslist arecovered:FuelLine,FuelLineClamps
