INSTRUCTIONS:
1. YOUR NEW CST PRO-JOINTS HAVE BEEN ASSEMBLED AND PRE – GREASED. AFTER YOU
INSTALL THE PRO-JOINTS ON THE TRUCK YOU (INSTALLER) WILL NEED TO ADD 10
PUMPS OF A HIGH QUALITY SYNTHETIC MOLY GREASE INTO THE PRO-JOINT THROUGH
THE ZERK FITTING. YOU WILL DO THIS AT STEP 12
2. PLACE THE TRUCK ON A LEVEL CONCRETE SURFACE. JACK UP THE TRUCK AND SUPPORT
IT UNDER THE FRAME WITH 4 JACK STANDS. NEVER WORK UNDER AN UNSUPPORTED
VEHICLE.
3. REMOVE THE FRONT TIRES.
4. REPLACE YOUR UPPER PRO-JOINTS ONE AT A TIME AS FOLLOWS;
5. FREE THE ANTILOCK WIRE FROM THE CLIPS ON THE UPPER ARM.
6. LOOSEN THE UPPER BALL JOINT BUT LEAVE THE NUT ON ABOUT ½” TO CATCH THE
SPINDLE. STRIKE THE SPINDLE WITH A HAMMER NEAR THE UPPER TAPER TO JAR THE
TAPER LOOSE.
7. PLACE A JACK UNDER THE LOWER ARM AND LIFT THE ARM A LITTLE TO KEEP IT FROM
DROOPING OUT TOO FAR. REMOVE THE NUT FOR THE UPPER BALL JOINT.
8. REMOVE THE 2 BOLTS THAT HOLD THE UPPER ARM TO THE FRAME.
9. INSTALL THE NEW PRO-JOINTS IN THE ARMS USING THE SUPPLIED BOLTS.
10. ATTACH THE PRO-JOINT TO THE SPINDLE USING THE SUPPLIED LOCKNUT AND WASHER.
THE WASHER MUST BE USED OR THE TAPER WILL NOT GET TIGHT. GENTLY SEAT THE
PRO-JOINT INTO THE SPINDLE USING A RUBBER MALLET THEN USE AN IMPACT GUN
TO RUN THE NUT ON. THIS WILL KEEP THE PRO-JOINT TAPER FROM SPINNING IN THE
SPINDLE. TORQUE THE NUT TO 60 FT-LBS.
11. REPEAT FOR THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TRUCK.
12. PLACE A JACK UNDER THE LOWER CONTROL ARM TO RELIEVE PRESSURE OFF THE PRO-
JOINT AND WITH A STANDARD GREASE GUN PUMP 10 PUMPS OF A HIGH QUALITY
MOLY GREASE INTO THE ZERK FITTINGS
13. REINSTALL THE TIRES AND TORQUE THE LUGS TO 100 FT-LBS.
14. HAVE THE TRUCK PROFESSIONALLY ALIGNED.
15. MAINTENANCE SHOULD BE PERFORMED BASED ON THE USAGE AND ENVIRONMENT OF
THE VEHICLE. TRUCKS DRIVEN ON ROUGH TERRAINS OR IF YOU LIVE IN AREAS WITH
EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS SHOULD PERFORM MAINTENANCE MORE OFTEN
THAN A STANDARD STREET DRIVEN VEHICLE. IT IS IMPORTANT TO KEEP THESE PRO-
JOINTS GREASED, SO YOU WILL NEED TO GREASE THEM EVERY 1000 - 3000 MILES
PENDING YOUR SITUATION.
GREASE AS FOLLOWS: USING A GREASE GUN, GREASE THE PRO-JOINTS A
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM 5-7 PUMPS IN EACH GREASE FITTING. CHECK FOR WEAR IN
THE PRO-JOINTS.
16. IF THE PRO-JOINTS ARE WORN AND HAVE SUBSTANTIAL PLAY, THEY NEED TO BE
REBUILT TO AVOID FAILURE. REBUILD KITS WITH INSTRUCTIONS ARE AVAILABLE
SEPARATELY FROM CST.
17. PRO-JOINTS THAT ARE STILL IN GOOD CONDITION SHOULD BE DISASSEMBLED,
THOROUGHLY CLEANED, GREASED AND RE-ASSEMBLED EVERY 10,000 MILES. APPLY A
THIN COAT OF GREASE DURING ASSEMBLY. AFTER INSTALLATION THE PRO-JOINT
WILL REQUIRE 30 PUMPS OF GREASE. WE RECOMMEND USING HIGH QUALITY
SYNTHETIC MOLY GREASE.
18. TRUCKS TAKEN OFF ROAD SHOULD BE INSPECTED AFTER EACH OFF ROAD SESSION.
