4. Anchor the pass thru’s to the wall with conduit clamps and unistrut assemblies. Pass
thru’s shall not be allowed to move once installed through the wall.
5. Firestop around and inside all pass thru’s after cable installation. Firestop shall match
the fire rating of the wall.
6. Pass thru’s will not be shown on the drawings, the Contractor shall be responsible for
providing and installing all pass thru’s for the entire installation.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.01 EXAMINATION
A. Contractor shall examine site and identify all locations where pathways are required. The
Contractors shall be responsible for providing all pathways shown as well as those required
to route cables from user location to the rack/cabinet.
B. Coordinate installation of all floor boxes with the Contractor installing the concrete or raised
floor.
C. Identify all ceiling types, and provide appropriate ceiling fittings for all surface mount
raceway.
D. If any changes from the drawings are required, the Contractor shall submit a proposed layout
of the communications room, and a proposed elevation view of the wallfield to the Engineer
for approval prior to installation.
3.02 PREPARATION
A. Each floor box shall be properly located. Consult with the Engineer prior to final floor box
installation.
B. Core each wall prior to installing pass thru’s.
3.03 INSTALLATION
A. All metallic and nonmetallic raceway shall be installed using only the manufacturer
recommended parts and installation tools.
1. All joints shall be mitered to ensure tight connections on all raceway.
2. All raceways shall be installed straight and square to the walls and floors.
3. Where raceways route through drop ceiling, a ceiling adapter shall be installed if 1 is
available from the manufacturer.
4. Secure each raceway to the wall with screws a minimum of every 3 feet. The
adhesive backing is not sufficient for attachment.
5. Provide all splice covers required for joining sections of raceway.
6. All raceways shall connect to boxes and other raceways with no gaps. A tight and
neat connection between all components is required.
B. Pass thru’s shall be installed in every wall that has cable passing through it.
1. Pass thru’s are not required where cable tray passes through a wall. However, the
cable tray shall be firestopped after cable installation
2. Install pass thru’s for all cables that pass through a wall. Cables shall not pass
through an existing or new wall opening without being installed through a conduit.
3. Attach the conduit to the wall with straps and unistrut to make certain the pass thru is
securely mounted.
4. Patch around the conduit after installation. Firestop around the conduit and inside the
conduit after cable installation.
5. Each pass thru conduit shall have bushings at each end.
