SECTION 28 2110 – INTERIOR RACEWAYS
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.01 SECTION INCLUDES
A. This section includes parts and equipment installed and associated with communications
pathways interior to a building.
1. Panduit.
1.02 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
A. Interior pathways shall follow all common installation practices for voice and data
communications cabling and local, state and national electrical codes.
B. All pathways shall be installed squarely to the building.
C. Refer to EIA/TIA 569-A and all updates and addenda.
1.03 COORDINATION
A. All pathways shall be coordinated with other trades and all other components of the system.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.01 MANUFACTURERS
A. Approved Equals for surface raceway are:
1. Hubbell.
2. Wiremold/Legrand
2.02 METAL RACEWAY
A. The single use metal raceway shall be installed to support communications cables and shall
be sized to provide space for additional cabling in the future. The raceways shall include:
1. A full line of fittings must be available including but not limited to flat, internal and
external elbows, couplings for joining raceway sections, wire clips, blank end fitting,
and a full complement of device mounting brackets and plates. The fittings shall be
colored to match the raceway.
2. Raceway shall have connectors that allow direct connection to EMT or flexible type
conduits.
3. Metal back boxes for single use metal raceway shall be available as well as deep
backboxes for communications connector installations.
4. Single use metal raceway shall be Hubbell Series #HBL500 or HBL750 or #HBL3000
or the Wiremold equivalent.
5. Equip all raceways with the full complement of backboxes, adapters, covers etc.
2.03 PASS THRU’S
A. Pass Thru’s shall be by the Contractor.
1. All pass thru’s of all walls shall be the responsibility of the Contractor.
2. If cables are required to be routed through a wall, the Contractor shall provide a pass
thru. The pass thru shall consist of conduit and bushings. All conduits shall be
equipped with bushings. EMT conduit shall be used unless otherwise noted.
3. Contractor shall identify locations that require pass thru’s and the number of cables
that will pass through the wall. Install a conduit that provides 100 percent growth in
the number of cables that can be routed through the pass thru after the initial
installation.
