Thanks to a newly developed video decoder and encoder, you can be sure of the finest video quality. The video decoder’s extended
bandwidth makes it fully compatible with progressive DVD and HDTV, as well as standard NTSC, PAL and SECAM formats. These
decoders perform 4 times oversampling for standard definition and 2 times oversampling for high definition formats, enabling the input
of progressive scan signals. The video encoder can properly support NTSC and PAL colour standards. With these receivers, the video
signal is passed on to the TV or display with the highest integrity.

It’s no understatement that these Pioneer A/V amp/receivers are completely
up-to-the-minute with the latest surround formats. They incorporate a WMA9 Pro decoder, the first
digital surround sound coding technology for the Web — developed by Microsoft. When connected to
a PC with Windows Media Player 10, you are able to enjoy high-resolution stereo (96 kHz/24-bit) or
5.1-channel surround audio at 128 k — 768 Kbps compression rates. At any given bit rate, 5-channel
WMA9 Pro will bring you higher fidelity than other sound compression algorithms thanks to the latest
audio codec technology.

Now you can select your room size and seat position for
maximum sound impact. By using the Room Set-up button, you
can select the size of your room (large, medium, small) and the
sound will be adjusted accordingly. You’re also able to indicate
your listening position (forward, middle, back) so that the sound
(delay) can be matched to where you’re sitting.

With these amp/receivers, you’ve got more options to configure your speakers. If you’re a true hi-fi stereo lover, you might want additional support for your front speakers.
In Bi-Amp mode, the surround back speaker channels can be reassigned to drive the front speakers. Separate amplifiers for the high and low frequency drivers allow better
crossover performance. The speakers must be bi-ampable though — with separate high and low terminals. There’s also the possibility to power stereo speakers in another
room. Either option still leaves you with 5.1 surround in your main room.
Audio quality has been enhanced even further, as a result of the new Advanced Dual Digital Core Engine. It includes the latest digital
audio processing technology, such as Analog Devices’ third-generation SHARC
®
processor. The performance of this DSP device has been
dramatically improved over the previous generation. The audio signal processing capability has in fact doubled, while the consumption
power has been cut in half. Its 32-bit high-performance engine processes digital data with extreme precision, and fully supports the latest
surround sound formats to surpass the limits of the digital audio range.
