DIGITAL INTERFACING
A single HDMI cable allows high definition video and uncompressed multi-channel surround audio — as well as standard stereo
— to be directly transmitted between two HDMI-equipped units. The purity of the signal is maintained, true to the original, with
absolutely no distortion or loss of quality. Two HDMI inputs are available, in addition to the standard inputs,
allowing you to connect even more sources. Pioneer’s Digital Video Converter even allows component,
S-Video and composite signals to be up-converted to HDMI, allowing a single connection to your display.
With the range of connection options, it is easy to configure any home installation. Additionally, you can
adjust video parameters, such as brightness and contrast, independently for each function.
ONE CONNECTION FOR COMPLETE DIGITAL TRANSFER OF ALL SIGNALS (VSX-AX4AVi, VSX-AX2AV)
The realism of high-resolution DVD-Audio and SACD audio is astonishing. But some of the fine details are lost in the digital-to-analogue conversion, and vice
versa during digital signal processing. Thanks to the i.LINK* Advanced Resolution Digital Audio Interface, all the original details are preserved. i.LINK supports device-to-
device digital audio data transfers of all major compressed and uncompressed formats including operational commands. Only one digital cable is needed to connect the
amplifier/receiver with any i.LINK-equipped audio source component — for example a DVD-Audio/Video/SACD player — to handle DVD-Audio and SACD discs (both multi-
channel and 2-channel), not to mention digital audio from DVD-Video and CD. By utilising i.LINK’s 2-way communication between units, Pioneer’s PQLS (Precision Quartz
Lock System) is able to conform the speed of the DVD player’s signal transfer to
the amplifier/receiver’s crystal clock speed. This reduces jitter arising from the
signal transmission to an absolute minimum**, and SACD and DVD-Audio sound
reproduction is as true to the original source as possible.

The revolutionary 3-D space frame construction reinforces the physical strength of the amplifiers/receivers. Unlike traditional 2-D
chassis designs, each part is fixed to the frame from various angles, so the unit has the strength to support the heavy transformer,
without any distortion. The double-layered chassis ensures an extremely strong and rigid base for the 3-D frames. In addition, the
chassis is copper-plated* to suppress signal interference between circuits and reduce ground impedance. This 3-D space frame
works simultaneously with the concentrated direct construction to further minimise signal interference — which results in an open
and fresh sound.

Pioneer's A/V amplifiers and receivers are designed with a highly efficient, or ‘direct’, internal construction, which minimises distortion
and suppresses signal interference between circuits. This is achieved by positioning parts more efficiently along the signal route,
separating digital and analogue circuits and reducing the PCB units. These measures contribute to producing the highest grade of audio
and video reproduction.
