FLAT-PANEL LCD TVs
Ultra-thin AQUOS TVs have become a popular
option for kitchens, bedrooms, and offices.
Sharps LCD panel design is optimized for TV
(not computer) signals. These two new models
are Enhanced Definition TV (EDTV) designs
— compatible with progressive-scan DVD.
AQUOS TVs are among the brightest LCD
models available. You can place them near
windows or other light sources and still enjoy
ultra-crisp contrast and dynamic colors.
A handle is built in for easy carrying, while
the built-in stand creates a graceful look on a
desktop, table, or dresser, or detaches if you’d
prefer wall-mounting (brackets not included,
see OmniMount brackets below, right).
The long-life lamp in these TVs is rated for
60,000 hours — that’s the equivalent of viewing
8 hours per day, every day, for over 20 years!

Versatile LCD
flat-panel TVs
Why are LCD TVs so popular? Easy.
They offer panel depth of just a few
inches, light weight, and sharp, vivid
image quality. Flat-panel LCD TVs are
available in screen sizes up to 30".
LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) tech-
nology has been under development
for over 30 years. Recent advances in
the resolution, brightness, and con-
trast ratio of LCD panels have led to
their adoption for computer monitor
use, and in the past few years, TVs.
The many advantages of
“tube-less LCD TVs
LCD TVs don’t use the scanning elec-
tron gun and picture tube found
in conventional TVs. Because they
don’t, LCD models offer much greater
versatility in placement and use.
First, they aren’t susceptible to
distortion from a nearby magnet (like
a speaker), which means you don’t
have to worry about unshielded
speakers getting too close to the TV
and damaging the picture tube
(there is no “tube”).
Also, because an LCD screen
doesn’t have a coating of phosphor
dots, there’s absolutely no chance of
image burn-in — great news for video
game fans.
Sharp AQUOS flat-panel
LCD TVs designed to mount
anywhere 13", 15" & 20"
Sharps E-series AQUOS models
boast a slimmer, minimalist look.
With speakers located beneath the
screen instead of on the sides,
these TVs are much narrower
than the models pictured above.
In addition to the advantages
described above, LCD TVs offer
unmatched versatility in place-
ment and use, due to their lack of
a traditional picture tube (see left).
Key Features:
performance and features are similar to models above, except E-series
models lack EDTV capability. See pg. 138 for more info, including dimensions.

model is a natural in any environment where looks matter
as much as performance. The widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio
lets you view DVD movies as they were meant to be seen.
One key addition to the new LC-22SV6U is Enhanced

480p signal from a progressive-scan DVD player. When
you’re watching non-widescreen material, you can choose
from 4 viewing modes that range from standard 4:3 with
vertical bars on the sides, to stretch and zoom modes that
fill up the screen. You’ll find a total of 3 A/V inputs for
your video sources, including one component video for
maximum picture quality from your DVD player.
Key Features:
same as models above, except: widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio
• EDTV design (component video input accepts 480p signals) • 854 x 480
pixels. See chart on pg. 138 for more info, including dimensions.
