CHAPTER 10. THE WI-FI EDITOR WEB-APP.
The Crumar Seven, like its cousin the Mojo 61 and its father the GSi Gemini, has an internal Wi-Fi antenna that casts its own local
network, along with a private web server that serves the HTML pages for the Editor. This is a modern, innovative and practical method
to have a fully featured editor at any time, without having to haul a computer and extra cables.
Any modern mobile device (tablets and smartphones) or any modern computer (desktop or laptop) can be used to access the Editor
web-app. The execution speed of the Editor depends on the CPU power of your device. When the Seven is on, use your device's
network options to start scanning for existing Wi-Fi networks. The Seven should cast an SSID that starts with "Seven-xxxxxxxx" where
the "x" are replaced by an hexadecimal serial number that is unique for each unit. Complete the connection using the following
password: 00000000 (eight times zero). The password can be changed later from the home screen of the Editor app and can be
restored to its default value at any time by using a small screwdriver or a sharp pencil to push the button that hides behind the hole
labeled “Wi-Fi Reset” on the connection panel. The password will be re-set to “00000000” and the system will restart automatically.
Once connected, open your favorite browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, etc.) and type the URL using the IP number:
The Editor home page should load into your browser like a normal web site. This can be viewed either in portrait or landscape mode,
the page should redraw itself accordingly. This is pretty much the same procedure used by many xDSL modems, routers, web-cams,
printers, CCTV recorders and many other modern network appliances that offer a built-in network-based editing interface.
PLEASE NOTE:
only one device at a time can be connected to the Seven
. If you're unable to connect, check that no other device is
already connected, turn all connections off then retry.
The Editor consists of an home page with global settings, a page for sound selection, a page for sound parameters, a page for effect
parameters, plus one last page for editing the Midi Controller Map.
