Setup guide



This chapter explains how to connect your printer to a computer
through either the parallel port or serial port.
»Note:
If you’re connecting to a computer through an Ethernet
network, refer to chapter 4, “Connecting to an Ethernet Network.”

1 Turn off both the printer and the PC.
2 Connect the printer to the PC.
 If you’re connecting to a PC through a parallel interface, con-
nect the printer to the PC as described in “Making a Parallel
Connection” on page 3-2.
 If you’re connecting to the PC through a serial interface, con-
nect the printer to the PC as described in “Making a Serial
Connection” on page 3-4.
»Note:
If the printer is more than 6.5 feet (2 meters) from the PC,
we recommend using an Ethernet or serial connection for better
communication.
3 Turn on both the printer and the PC.
4 Install a printer driver.

5 You’re ready to print.
