IQ-PIP-USP3/CN
4 Operation
The USP3/CN provides a single plug solution for distribution of audio, control, and moni-
toring of the amplifier. A single CAT5 connection to a standard Fast Ethernet network used
for CobraNet and TCP/IQ Control provides all of the necessary infrastructure wiring.
The USP3/CN's SHARC DSP provides unequaled amounts of audio processing power for
the amplifier's audio, all controllable from anywhere on the network using IQWic software. A
full complement of audio routing, monitoring, and processing is available and completely
controllable via the network using IQWic software. The software also supports discovery of
all of the components on the network and setup of CobraNet audio routing and addressing.
In addition to TCP/IQ series components, the TCP/IQ network solution allows connection to
legacy IQ2 components via traditional IQ loop communications as well as interface to 3rd
party controller support such as AMX and Crestron.
The USP3/CN can function independently from the network control. Once the processing is
setup, the module's non-volatile memory allows the amplifier to continue to function with
no external control. In the unlikely event of a network failure, the analog audio balanced
inputs provide a backup audio path that can be automatically selected by the USP3/CN if
CobraNet audio is disrupted.
The following sections describe the USP3/CN's features and operation. Most features are
controlled and configured using IQWic software from a computer located anywhere on the
Fast Ethernet network. Please contact a Crown representative or Crown's Technical Support
Group if you are unfamiliar with IQ software.
