Specifications
The following applies to units in Stereo mode with 8-ohm loads and rated input sensitivity
unless otherwise specified.
Performance
Frequency Response (at 1 watt) 20 Hz to 20 kHz: ±0.1 dB.
Phase Response (at 1 watt, 10 Hz to 20 kHz): ±10 degrees.
Signal-to-Noise Ratio (below rated full bandwidth power), A-weighted:
> 105 dB.
Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) (at rated power),
20 Hz to 1 kHz: < 0.05%.
20 kHz: < 0.1%.
Intermodulation Distortion (IMD) (60 Hz and 7 kHz at 4:1),from 10 milli-
watts to full rated output): < 0.05%.
Damping Factor (8 ohm) 10 Hz to 400 Hz: >1000.
Voltage Gain (8-ohm load, rated output at 1 kHz, at maximum level setting,
±6% or ±0.5 dB),
MA-24X6: 83:1 or 38-dB gain at 0.775-volt sensitivity (CH1); 54:1 or
35-dB gain at 0.775-volt sensitivity (CH2); 20:1 or 26-dB gain at 26-dB
sensitivity (CH1&CH2).
MA-36X12: 124.6:1 or 42-dB gain at 0.775-volt sensitivity (CH1); 64:1
or 36-dB gain at 0.775-volt sensitivity (CH2); 20:1 or 26-dB gain at 26-
dB sensitivity (CH1&CH2).
Controlled Slew Rate,
Channel 1: > 30 volts/microsecond.
Channel 2: > 13 volts/microsecond.
Power
Load Impedance: Safe with all types of loads. Rated for 2 to 8 ohms in
Stereo, 4 to 16 ohms in Bridge-Mono, and 1 to 4 ohms in Parallel-Mono.
Required AC Mains (±10%): 50/60Hz, 100-, 120-, and 230- VAC units are
available. 230VAC, 50/60Hz units can be used with 220 and 240 VAC.
100 and 120 VAC units can draw up to 30 amps; 230 VAC units can
draw up to 15 amps.
Power Draw at Idle: 90 watts or less.
Controls
Enable: A front-panel push button used to turn the amplifier on and off.
Level: A front-panel rotary detented level control, one for each channel.
Ground Lift Switch: This switch isolates or “lifts” the phone jack signal
grounds from the AC power ground. Activating the switch inserts an
impedance between the sleeve of each phone jack and the unit’s AC
ground to help prevent the hum that can result from a ground loop.
Input Sensitivity Switch: A three-position switch located inside the ampli-
fier that is accessed by removing the PIP module. It is factory-set to
0.775 volts for rated 8 ohm output. It can also be set to 1.4 volts for
rated output, or a voltage gain of 26 dB.
Reset Switches: Two back-panel switches used to reset the breakers that
safeguard each power supply from overload.
Indicators
(all located on front panel)
Enable: A green front-panel LED that indicates amplifier has been turned
on and AC power is available.
Signal/IOC: A green front-panel LED for each channel that flashes to
show amplifier output. If a channel’s output waveform differs from its
input by 0.05% or more, the indicator flashes brightly to show distor-
tion.
ODEP: A red front panel LED for each channel that shows thermal-
dynamic energy reserve. Normally, each ODEP indicator is lit to show
available reserve energy. In the rare event that a channel has no
reserve, its indicator will dim in proportion to ODEP limiting.
Input/Output
Input Connectors: Factory-installed PIP2-FXQ provides one 3-pin female
XLR connector for each channel in parallel with one 1/4-inch phone
jack connector for each channel.
Input Impedance: (nominally balanced, nominally unbalanced): 20 k
ohms, 10 k ohms.
Output Connectors: Two sets of 5-way, color-coded binding posts for
banana plugs, spade lugs or bare wire (European models do not
accept banana plugs).
Protection
Macro-Tech amplifiers are protected against shorted, open or mismatched
loads; overloaded power supplies; excessive temperature, chain destruction
phenomena, input overload damage and high-frequency blowups. They also
protect loudspeakers from input/output DC and turn-on/turn-off transients.
They provide ODEP, IOC, “standby” mode, fuses (or breakers), and special
thermal protection for the unit’s transformers.
Construction
Cooling: Internal heat sinks with forced-air cooling for rapid, uniform heat
dissipation.
Dimensions: EIA Standard 19-inch (48.3-cm) rack mount width (EIA RS-310-B),
3.5-inch (8.9-cm) height and 16-inch (40.6-cm) depth behind the
mounting surface.

Our unique Macro-Tech
®
24x6 and 36x12 provide practical solu-
tions to biamplified system applications such as stage monitors.
Each amp features a high- and medium-power channel in a sin-
gle, low-profile unit. Both amps have separate power supplies
which allow each channel to be treated as its own amplifier. In
both models, Channel 1 provides high power for bass drivers,
while Channel 2 provides medium power for horns and other
high-frequency transducers.
