Controls & Connectors
Level: A detented rotary level control for each channel located on the front panel.
Power: An on/off rocker switch located on the front panel.
Mode: A two-position switch located on the back panel. Selects either
Stereo or Bridge-Mono operation.
Sensitivity:
CE 1000/2000: Two-position switch: 1.4 volts for full output into an 8-
ohm load (default setting), or a fixed voltage gain of 26 dB.
CE 4000: Three-position switch: 0.775 volts or 1.4 volts for full output
into an 8-ohm load (default setting), or a fixed voltage gain of 26 dB.
Fault Jack: RJ-11 jack allows remote monitoring of amplifier Fault condi-
tion. An LED or other signaling device (not supplied) may be used.
Filter Switches (CE 4000 only),
Low Pass: A three-position switch (Flat / 80 Hz / 100 Hz) for each chan-
nel located on the back panel. Filter rolloff is 24-dB per octave.
High Pass: A four-position switch (Flat / 30 Hz / 40 Hz / 50 Hz) for each
channel located on the back panel. Filter rolloff is 18-dB per octave.
Indicators
Signal: Green LED for each channel flashes when a very low-level signal
(>–40 dBm) is at input. May be used to troubleshoot cable runs.
Clip: Red LED for each channel turns on when distortion becomes audible
in the amplifier output.
Fault: Red LED flashes to signal fault condition. Will also flash during
normal start-up sequence.
Power: Green LED turns on when amplifier is on and has power.
Input/Output
Input Connectors (standard module): One Neutrik
®
Combo connector
for each channel (balanced 1/4-inch [6.35-mm] phone jack and 3-
pin female XLR connector, in parallel with a barrier strip termina-
tion).
Input Stage: Input is electronically balanced and employs precision 1% resistors.
Input Impedance: Nominally 20 k ohms, balanced. Nominally 10 k ohms,
unbalanced.
Input Sensitivity: 1.4 volts for standard 1-kHz power, or fixed 26-dB gain.
0.775-volt sensitivity also standard on CE4 000 amplifiers; 0.775-volt
sensitivity is available as a Service Option on CE 1000/2000 ampli-
fiers.
Output
Output Connectors
CE 1000/CE 2000: Choice of 2 Neutrik Speakon
®
NL4MP (Models
CE1000A or CE2000A), barrier plus Speakon (CE1000AS1 or
CE2000AS1), or 5-way plus Speakon (CE1000AS2 orCE2000AS2);
CE 4000: Choice of 5-way plus Speakon (CE40000A004), 4 Speakon
(CE40000A005), or 5-way plus barrier (CE40000A006).
Output Signal: Stereo: Unbalanced, two-channel; Bridge-Mono: Balanced, sin-
gle-channel. Channel 1 controls are active; Channel 2 should be turned down.
Protection
Protected against shorted, open or mismatched loads; overloaded
power supplies; excessive temperature, chain destruction phenomena,
input overload damage and high-frequency blowups. They also protect
loudspeakers from input/output DC, large or dangerous DC offsets
and turn-on/turn-off transients.
Construction
Rugged steel chassis is coated with environmentally friendly powder
for long life and ease of maintenance.
Cooling: Proportional speed fan.
Dimensions: EIA Standard 19-inch rack mount width (EIA RS-310-B),
5.25-inch (13.34-cm) height and 12.25-inch (31.11-cm) (CE
1000/2000) or 16.25-inch (36.56-cm) (CE 4000) depth behind front
mounting surface. CE4000 has additional 1-inch rear rack ears.
Weight: CE 1000: 32.6 pounds (14.79 kg). CE 2000: 40.3 pounds (18.28
kg). CE 4000: 33.3 pounds (15.1 kg). For shipping weight, add 6
pounds (2.7 kg) to each amplifier’s weight.
With their powerful, reliable performance, CE Series amps easily handle
2-ohm loads and are capable of chest-thumping lows. CE 4000 ampli-
fiers feature Crown’s patented, award-winning BCA
®
(Class “I”) technolo-
gy, and provide superior power output, increased efficiency, and leg-
endary Crown
®
sound.
CE 4000 amplifiers feature selectable, on-board high- and low-pass filter
sets, so you can easily add a sub-bass system. With all models, optional
SST modules provide features like crossovers and summed bass output.
Three types of output connectors are available.
Accessories: CE handles. See Accessories Section for more informa-
tion.
Regulatory Certifications:
*Note: All measurements related to 120-volt ,60-Hz units in
stereo mode with 8-ohm loads and an input sensitivity of
26-dB gain at 1-kHz rated power unless other otherwise
specified. Specifications for units supplied for units sup-
plied outside the U.S.A. may vary slightly at different AC
voltages and frequencies.
