SECTION 11 TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
to 55.4 mg/kg/day, there was no significant carcinogenic potential
observed.
Reproductive /
Developmental Toxicity:
This product is not expected to be reproductively or developmentally harmful.
(Alkyl(C12-16)dimethylbenzylammonium chloride) In orally dosed rabbits at
up to 30 mg/kg/day, there was no significant effect to maternal reproductive
and fetal toxicity; however the NOAEL for maternal systemic toxicity was 3
mg/kg/day based on mortality, weight gains and gross pathology.
(Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) In orally-dosed rabbits at up to 32 mg/
kg/day, the maternal NOAEL was 4 mg/kg/day based on fetal mortality and
post implantation loss; the fetal NOAEL was 12 mg/kg/day based on
embryotoxic / teratogenic effects.
Chronic/Subchronic
Toxicity: Specific Target
Organ/Systemic Toxicity –
Single Exposure:
This product is not expected to cause organ effects or systemic toxicity upon
a single exposure.
(Alkyl(C12-16)dimethylbenzylammonium chloride) No data.
(Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) No data.
Chronic/Subchronic
Toxicity: Specific Target
Organ/Systemic Toxicity –
Repeated Exposure:
This product is not expected to cause organ effects or systemic toxicity upon
repeated exposure.
(Alkyl(C12-16)dimethylbenzylammonium chloride) In a 95 day oral study in
rats at up to 62 mg/kg/day, the NOAEL was 31 mg/kg/day with only slight
or no systemic toxicity.
(Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) In a 52-week oral study with rats at up
to 55.4 mg/kg/day, the NOAEL was 31 mg/kg/day based on decreased
body weights and food consumption.
Aspiration Hazard: 0.00%
Additional Information: None.
SECTION 12 ECOLOGICAL INFORMATION
If available, ecological data for the product is given; otherwise component data is listed.
Acute Ecotoxicity: This product may be toxic to aquatic organisms. Classification is not
required as the product’s constituents are readily biodegradable and pose
a low potential for bioaccumulation.
(Alkyl(C12-16)dimethylbenzylammonium chloride) LC50 (Bluegill sunfish)
0.515 mg/l/96 hr; EC50 (Daphnia magna) 0.016 mg/l/48 hr; EC50 (algae)
0.03 mg/l/96 hr.
(Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) LC50 (Zebra fish) 0.49 mg/l/96 hr;
EC50 (Daphnia magna) 0.029 mg/l/48 hr; ErC50 (algae) 0.062 mg/l/72 hr.
Mobility: (Alkyl(C12-16)dimethylbenzylammonium chloride) No data.
(Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) No data.
Persistence/Degradability: (Alkyl(C12-16)dimethylbenzylammonium chloride) Readily biodegradable
(63% in 28 days).
(Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) Readily biodegradable (69% in 28
days).
Bioaccumulation: (Alkyl(C12-16)dimethylbenzylammonium chloride) A BCF of 79 in fish
indicated a low potential for bioaccumulation.
(Didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride) An estimated BCF of 71 in fish
indicated a low potential for bioaccumulation.
Other adverse effects: None.
