Connections to DMCO output cards vary depending
on the particular card. For connection information,
refer to the following list of connectors available in
various combinations on the various output cards.
MMF/SC
(DM 8G Fiber)
Connects to DM 8G
®
fiber input of DM
®
receivers or other
DM devices using simplex multimode fiber optic cable
(sold separately). Using CRESFIBER8G, the maximum
transmission distance is 1000 feet (~300 meters). Using
CRESFIBER, CRESFIBER-SINGLE-SC, or generic OM3
simplex multimode fiber optic cable, the maximum
transmission distance is 500 feet (~150 meters).
SMF/LC
(DM 8G SM Fiber)
Connects to DM 8G SMF input of DM switchers or other
DM devices using single-mode fiber optic cable (sold
separately). Using CRESFIBER8G-SM or generic G.652.D
(or better) simplex single-mode fiber optic cable, the
maximum transmission distance is 7.5 miles (12 km).
D and M
(DM Fiber,
Dual Output Shown)
Connect to DM fiber input of DM receivers or other DM
devices using duplex multimode fiber optic cable (sold
separately). Using CRESFIBER8G, CRESFIBER,
CRESFIBER-DUAL-SC, or generic OM2/OM3 duplex
multimode fiber optic cable, the maximum transmission
distance is 1000 feet (~300 meters).

Before Starting
Adding or Replacing Input/Output Cards
This Quickstart Guide applies to the DM-MD8X8-RPS,
DM-MD16X16-RPS, and DM-MD32X32-RPS as well as to the
DM-MD8X8, DM-MD16X16, and DM-MD32X32.
Input/output (I/O) cards are installed prior to shipment of a
DigitalMedia™ switcher. If, however, I/O cards are to be added or
replaced in the field, refer to the following illustrations and
instructions. For additional information, refer to the latest version of
the DigitalMedia Card Installation Guide (Doc. 6757), which is
available from the Crestron
®
Web site (www.crestron.com/manuals).

To add or replace I/O cards (excluding DM-MD16X16 output cards):
1. Do either of the following:
If adding an I/O card, remove the screws that secure the
cover plate of an unused slot.
If replacing an I/O card, remove the screws that secure the
card to be replaced, and then remove the card.
2. Insert the card to be installed into the slot side rails, and ensure
that the card is fully seated in the slot.
3. Using the screws removed in step 1, secure the card in position.
CAUTION: I/O cards are electrostatic sensitive
devices. Wear a grounding strap or touch the metal
chassis of a known grounded device while handling
and installing the cards.

NOTE: Ensure that the power cord is not connected
before installing I/O cards.

Connecting Outputs
DM OUT
(DM 8G+)
Connects to DM 8G+™ input of DM receivers or other DM
devices using DM-CBL-8G DigitalMedia 8G™ cable,
DM-CBL DigitalMedia cable, DM-CBL-D DigitalMedia D
cable, or generic CAT5e (or better) UTP or STP. Shielded
cable and connectors are recommended to safeguard
against unpredictable environmental electrical noise which
may impact performance at resolutions above 1080p.
POE IN
Connects to 802.3af Power over Ethernet (PoE) power
source (sold separately) to enable Power over DM (PoDM).

D and M
(DM CAT)
Connect to DM CAT input of DM receivers or other DM
devices using DM-CBL DigitalMedia cable. Up to two DM
repeaters (Model DM-DR, sold separately) may be required.
HDMI
Connects to HDMI
®
digital video/audio input of a local HDMI
display/receiver or of a daisy-chained DM switcher using
CBL-HD cable (sold separately).
L and R
(Audio)
Connects to balanced/unbalanced stereo line level input.

be installed into the slots in numerical order.
