theCrestroncontrolsystem.TheUserDevicesfoldersintheDeviceLibraryinclude
hundredsofdriverfilesthatcontroldevicesinanumberofformats,themostcommon
beingIR.Infact,theUserDBandPr
ojectDBfolderscontainonlyIRdevices.
ToaddanIRdevice,thecontrolsystemmusthaveanIRcardinstalled.MostCrestron
controlsystemsprovideabuilt‐inIRcard;forexample,theC2I‐IR8cardisbuilt
intothePRO2.ItprovideseightportsthatsupportIRand1‐wayRS‐23
2formats.In
addition,Crestronmanufacturesplug‐inIRcards,suchasC2IR‐8,thatcanbeinstalled
intheexpansionslotsofthecontrolsystem.
OnceyouhaveanIRcardinstalled,youcanselectIRdevicesfromtheUserDevices
folder,whichitselfcontainsthreesubfolde
rsfortheCrestronDatabase,UserDatabase
andProjectDatabase.ThedatabasefoldersareorganizedaccordingtoManufacturer
orDeviceType.YoucanidentifyIRdevicesbecausetheyhaveanIR
icon.
ToaddanIRdevice,locate thedeviceanddragittotheIRcardslotorportaddressin
thetreeview:
IfyouaddanIRdevicetoacardslot,SIMPLWindowswillauto‐assignportaddresses
sequentially,startingwiththefirstopenport.
YoucanadddropmultipleIRdevicestothesameport,althoughifyouconnectmore
than5IRdevicestothesameIRportyoumustuseanIRsprayer.Inad
dition,an
IRdevicemustnotbedroppedintothesameportwitha1‐wayRS‐232device.The
devicesmustbeofthesamecontrolformat.
