Compass Declination Angle Setting
A Declination Map of North America is provided on this
page. The map depicts magnetic declination lines at 5
degree intervals with the 0 degree declination line bold.
Angles east of the 0 declination line are (-), and angles west
of the 0 declination are (+).
There are several web sites you can use to find the exact
declination angle for your location. Two of these web sites
are listed below:
• http://magnetic-declination.com/
• www.ngdc.noaa.gov/geomag-web/#declination
These web sites can find your declination angle using either
a clickable world map or your zip code.
Tip: Magnetic declination angles are not static and will change over
the course of several years.
