CHANGING FRICTION WHEEL
Therubberonthe frictionwheelis subjectto wearandshouldbe
checkedafterthefirst 25 hoursof operation,andperiodicallythere-
after.Replacethe frictionwheelif anysignsof wearor crackingare
found.
1. Drainthe gasolinefromthe snowthrower,or placea pieceof
plasticunderthe gas cap.
2. Tipthe snowthrowerupandforward,so that it restsonthe
housing.
3. Removescrewsfromthe framecoverunderneaththesnow
thrower(referto Figure30). Removethe rightwheelfromthe
axle.
4. Usinga 3/4" wrench,holdthe hex shaftandremovethe hex
screwandbellevillewasherand bearingfromleft sideof the
frame.Referto Figure31.
5. Holdingthe frictionwheelassembly,slidethe hex shaftout of
thefriction wheelassemblyandthe rightside oftheframe.The
spaceronthe left sideof the hexshaft will falland thesprocket
shouldremainhanginglosein the chain.
6. Liftthe frictionwheelassemblyout betweenthe axle shaftand
thedrive shaftassemblies.
7. Removefour screwssecuringthe frictionwheelto the hub
assembly(referto Figure32). Discardold frictionwheel.
8. Reassemblethe newfrictionwheelontothe hubassembly,
tighteningthe fourscrewsin rotationandwithequalforce.It is
importantto assemblethe frictionwheelsymmetricallyfor proper
functioning.
